Counselling & Psychotherapy

Drawing on over 20 years' experience, I have a deep trust in the healing potential of the counselling and psychotherapy relationship.

I aim to offer a space where you can come as you are, and be met with care and respect. Within this, there is room for different parts of yourself to be explored, and for you to find a way of being with yourself that feels more possible.

I believe we come to understand ourselves through relationship, and that feeling truly met and accepted can make meaningful change possible.

My practice offers space to explore difficulties with patience and gentleness, to develop greater self-compassion, feel more present, and establish boundaries that support healing and growth.

How I work

I am trained in, and strongly drawn to, the Person-Centred Approach. This way of working values your uniqueness and places trust in your inner knowing.  I see beyond labels and believe that you know yourself best.

Alongside my clinical work, I am a former Chair of the Person-Centred Association of England and Wales, and a published writer in person-centred handbooks, with a particular focus on anti-discriminatory practice, diversity, and intersectionality.  This reflects my long-standing commitment to ethical, inclusive practice.

Sessions are guided by what feels important to you.  I won't direct what we should talk about or where we should go.  Instead, I aim to create an environment where you can explore your experiences at your own pace.

I was born with a facial disfigurement, and my own experience as a client informs my work, particularly feeling safe, respected, and understood.  I value honesty, kindness, and trustworthiness, and see therapy as a co-created relationship grounded in genuine, empathic care.

“Therapy isn’t about fixing things. It’s about understanding yourself deeply enough to find peace, even when you find out that somethings cannot be changed.

That’s how I feel and I couldn’t have done it without Suzy!”

What to expect

I believe a safe and trusting relationship is fundamental to growth. I will take you and your difficulties seriously, listen carefully, and invest time in building a therapeutic relationship. I approach your experience with care, respect, and thoughtfulness.

By supporting a space where you can speak in your own voice, in a climate of exploration, therapy can help build confidence, self-belief, and a deeper awareness of how to work through difficulties as they arise. I offer a quality of presence that is not always available in everyday life, and which many people experience as deeply therapeutic, leading to greater self-insight and self-understanding.
